Week 12 - Happy Halloween!!!

Not a lot has changed this week for Camri. She is still doing great. She was somewhat brief with us today. Maybe next week we can get a picture of her Halloween costume. Don't forget to check out her blog for all the latest pictures.

Heyoooo!
Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween as a missionary is gonna be weird because we have to be inside our apartments by 6.  But you better believe that the other sisters and I are gonna throw a sick Halloween party!
This week was boss! We went to the temple on Wednesday with the zone! Heres some cool facts from that day: The man driving our 15 passenger van was a grouch and he watched soccer on his phone while driving... kinda scary.  But hes a good guy haha.  We went to Costa Vida afterwards and missionaries get a 60% off discount there.  Since we only get Costa every six months as missionaries, the sisters and I all bought two meals.  haha one for while we were there, and one to take home for the next day.  It was the best idea we had all week!
Ohhh... haha so on Thursday the Elders called us with a referral.  Someone needed some service done, help moving their couches.  It was in our area so the Elders asked if we would want to go instead of them since the people were nonmembers.   We were like, heck yeah we wanna go! Well when we got there, we discovered that the people were moving their couches out because they were infested with bed bugs! The Elders didn't warn us of that.  Sooo afterwards we just took our clothes and threw them in a drier and from what we can tell, we don't have bed bugs.  Except the drier melted my Nikes a little so that sucks.   Freaking Elders.  But its okay because the people were super awesome! And we met a girl that was YSA aged and invited her to the activities.  They want us to come back again in November and help them paint :)
We also did service for our on-date, Taylor! It was so cool! She had to put her whole house pretty much in bags because her apartment complex was getting sprayed for roaches.  We took the other sisters with us too and we were there for a while helping her clean.  But heres the cool part.  So while we were cleaning, two of taylors friends came over.  They brought some beer and asked us if we were 21 yet.  We were like, no but we dont drink.  And then they started talking to us about why we don't drink and they thought it was pretty cool.  We gained major trust with all of them from doing that act of service.  When we left, both of the friends asked us to come teach them too! One said "I like learning about this! Will you come be my missionaries too?" LITERALLY, IT WAS SO FREAKING AWESOME! Oh and Taylors boyfriend was there... hes interesting.  Hes a.... child of God.  But a lazy one that didn't do anything to help.  But he told us thank you so I guess thats something.
Don is still on track for Nov. 11th to be baptized buuuut he drank a spoonful of bourbon yesterday because he was choking and thats what makes him stop choking.  We might have to push his date back a week... but we're looking into it.  Stay tuned.
Oh! I spoke in church yesterday! I spoke on faith.  And it was cool because our investigator Shayna came for the first time.  She said church was a little overwhelming because she didn't know what anyone was talking about.  Shes the one that didn't know who Jesus Christ was when we met her.  But she said shes excited to keep coming and keep learning! In our last lesson she said "For some reason i just feel like my life is getting better because I'm learning about God" THATS WHAT THE GOSPEL DOES! It just makes life better :)
Love you all! Have the greatest week ever!
Love, Sister Jensen

Heres some pics from the temple! Hopefully I'll get the group one next week :) Oh and Costa tortilla.... haha

Week 11 - The Atonement is REAL

As you can tell by her email, Camri is still Camri. Some may think she is a little crazy but we love the fact that others get to see why she is so special. I was finally able to chat with her for a few minutes today. It's been about three weeks since I have been able to do so. She shared with me her experience about her interview with the President. She had many questions for him being the seeker she has become. He was able to give her some great counsel that no doubt will serve her well as she continues to serve in the WYM.

Hey Fam!
This week was awesome! We had interviews with President on Tuesday.  Seriously, he is the best mission president EVER! No joke.  And Sister Lewis is like my mom out here.  The really do love us :')
Anyways, some really cool things happened this week.  We had a district challenge to tract from 8-9 pm three nights this week.  And even though tracting at late hours sucks, I realized that if someone is ready to receive the gospel at 2 pm, then they'll be ready to receive the gospel at 8 pm.  Actually, one guy accidentally told us that he loved us as he was shutting the door.  Haha we heard "Honey, I just told them that I love them!" hahah so that made us laugh pretty good.
So heres the big news of the week: DON IS ON-DATE TO BE BAPTIZED!!! Literally, he was anti-mormon a month ago and now he already refers to himself as a recent convert.  We had two lessons this week with him and we had members from the ward come with us to both.  He is so excited to be baptized on November 11.  I wanna tell yall some cool stuff though.  So first of all, he had to reschedule a lesson with us.  But get this: he rescheduled the lesson because I guess he had to go pick up some food from the food bank.  He said that he never needs all of the food, so he called the bishop and asked if someone in the ward needed some extra food.  IT WAS JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!  Then in one lesson, we got there and he started telling us how bad he felt for Joseph Smith that people were so mean to him.  His words were "People were just awful to him, and hall he was doing was telling the truth".  The members that have gone to lessons with us come out of it in COMPLETE shock.  Their comments are "He is not the same person" "Are you sure the other guy didn't move away?"
I'm telling you right now, the Atonement of Jesus Christ does AMAZING things.  Its so awesome to see it! Don is evidence of the power in the atonement and what repentance can do to somebodies life.  Hes still pretty set on being a nudist.... but hey if its in his own home I'm not sure theres a huge problem with that.  To each their own right? But he heard that we don't drink coffee so he just stopped drinking it cold turkey one day! We didn't even ask him to yet! Hes awesome! I can't wait for him to be baptized :)
Also! We invited another investigator to be baptized.  Remember Taylor I told y'all about? She has the crazy kids that like to climb all over us, and its hard to get a lesson in? Well shes on date to be baptized too! For December 15th.  Let me tell you what happened.  So actually, we went into the lesson thinking we were about to drop her.  We got there and once again her kids were going crazy.  Sis. Wadman started distracting the kids with the bouncy ball as Taylor went into her kitchen to clean.  Sis Wadman motioned me to go talk to Taylor and I got so scared! I thought she wanted me to go tell Taylor we were dropping her! But I went over to talk to Taylor.  I started helping her clean up the kitchen.  I saw the book of mormon and just started talking... I told her about why I'm on a mission and why I said good-bye to my family to share the gospel.  And then... she opened up to me like crazy! She said how badly she wants to be baptized but is scared about the things she'll have to overcome to get to that point.  She isn't married, and she doesn't want to marry the man shes living with.  she is going to have to leave him but shes scared.  She also smokes and will have to quit that, which she has a desire to do.  I felt so bad for her! Her dad also died not too long ago.  Oh and her kids ages are 3, 2, 1, and shes pregnant.  But! She has a goal.  And we're gonna help her get there.  And I know God will help her get there.  its gonna take a lot of hard work though.  It was such a miracle visit! We were about to stop visiting her! I know the gospel is going to change her life so much if she will let it.  I'm so excited for her!!
The other sisters living with us are still great! They still don't talk as loud as me and Sis. Wadman but thats okay.
Ohhhh an investigator dropped us...... she said she doesnt' wanna convert.  She just likes talking about Jesus.  hahaha don't we all though? Shes still cool though.  Maybe one day she'll change her mind :)
GUESS WHAT?! The zone is going to the temple on Wednesday! I'm stoked!!! So today actually isn't P-day.  We are just emailing and then Wednesday will be actual P-day.
I forgot to tell yall that I went to a corn maze with the ysa ward last week! It was siiiiick! I shoved a whole donut in my mouth! The bishopric took a video and stuff lol.  And then this week we carved pumpkins with the YSA! I tried to carve the tree of life... but the bishop said it looked more like a marijuana leaf... whoops.
The work is hastening down here in the WYM! Its getting quite chilly though and I've had to pull out the leggings... Its hard to look cute with leggings everyday but whatever.  I don't have to look cute to preach the gospel right? Right.
Have a good week everyone! I love you all :)
-Love, Sister Jensen

Week 10 - Don't Worry It Was A Dog

Camri had a good week. I don't know how 4 sisters are living together in that tiny apartment. Does her success and relationships that she is making surprise anyone?..me neither.
Don’t forget to check out her blog as well as the blog of the mission. Lots of great pictures.

What up what up?
Another week down in the books! Sooo transfers happened on Wednesday and 2 sisters moved in with us.  And its been exactly how I said it would be... interesting.  Haha we don't have all 4 desks yet because we're still trying to figure out if we can get a bunk bed.  Other wise desks won't fit.  Also, 4 girls getting ready in the morning at the same time with one bathroom is tough, but hey, we're making it work! Its all good! The sisters names are sis. Crooksten from Snowflake AZ, and Sister Rose from Bryce Canyon.  They're super sweet! Although, they're kind of quiet and me and Sis. Wadman are anything but quiet! So I bet they think we're crazy... but thats okay because we are.
Its been a little stressful splitting the area and trying to tell them about all of the investigators in the area and things like that.  But a little stress doesn't hurt every once in a while.
We saw Joey and Annette again! But Annette didn't feel too good so our lesson was pretty short.  But they fed us pizza so thats a plus! We're going back tomorrow :)
Lol so yesterday when we were tracting we met this man named Emanuel.  We started talking and he invited us to come back this week.  He said his work schedule is a little crazy though.  So sister Wadman was lik, "oh where do you work?" And he works at the POT FARM! hahaha I was like "Hey, whatever pays the bills right?" Gosh I love people.
Remember Don I told yall about last week? Kilt guy? Well he came to church again! Hes almost finished with the book of Alma so hes making great progress.  We have a lesson with him on Wednesday and we're going to invite him to be baptized! Hahaha but funny story about him.  So he freaking lovessss his dogs.  And he told me in sacrament meeting that one of his dogs got ran over by his friend on monday.  I guess the leash got tangled up in the tire.  He was pretty sad about it.  But he said that he prayed for peace and feels better.  Heres the funny part: So me and Sis. Wadman taught the lesson in Gospel Principles (We do that a lot when the teacher cant) , and the lesson was on sacrifice.  Well Don decided to start out class by telling the story about his dog getting killed.  The thing is, he started off by calling his dog his "little girl".  This was his story: I was talking with my friend out front and then my friend got in his car to leave.  I heard a noise that sounded like this *made a weird noise* and then i saw my little girl lying on the ground with a crushed head.  Her nerves were shot and she was just shaking.  I didn't know what to do.  My little girl was just bleeding out on the road, and I couldn't help her.
I was at the front of the classroom and so i could see the faces of the other people in the class... and since they didn't know he was talking about a dog their faces looked a bit surprised... I WAS FREAKING DYING! Holy crap I was gonna bust a gut. AND THEN! The lesson starts off by talking about the Law of Moses and the sacrifice of animals.  hahaha Sis. Wadman and I couldn't make eye contact because we were both thinking the same thing.  Don't worry though, he explained after telling the story that she got ran over because of her leash getting tangled in the tire.  At that point, I'm sure everyone assumed the story had been about a dog.  OH MY HECK people are so awesome.
Interviews with the Pres are tomorrow so I'm sure more pics will show up on the blog :) Oh yeah, I went to Doctrine of Christ on Thursday.  Its for missionaries in their second transfer.  It was so so so good! And the Holy Ghost was totes there testifying it up.
I read a conference talk everyday and the other day I read one that said something I really liked! So I like to ask a lot of questions.  And in high school, i always felt guilty for having questions about the gospel.  I thought it meant i was doubting my testimony.  BUT! The talk said that questions are good.  In fact, questions are vital to our spiritual growth.  Just because we have questions, doesn't mean we are doubting.  When we have a question, we should see ourselves as seekers, rather than doubters.  Have questions and seek for understanding :)
Anyways! Good times down here in Moses Lake! This was a great decision.  Love all of you!!
-Sister Jensen <3

Ummmm I'm really sorry but we didn't take many pics this week... So heres one of me and Sis. Wadman.  :)

Week 9 - 2 MONTHS SAY WHAAA

I am not sure how it happened but Camri was able to stay in  Moses Lake for at least one more transfer. She told us that her trainer had never had anyone stay past the first transfer.  I reassured her that they realized she needed a little more training than most. She did give me a reply but I will not post it. hahaha.
Her area in Moses Lake is splitting up this week because there is so much territory to cover. As a result, two more sisters will be moving in with her and her companion. She is hoping they get bunk beds or things are going to get a little cozy. Can you imagine Camri living in that small space alone let alone with three others. Oh boy, I hope they tip the maid. She is also a little concerned about the car issue. She told me that if they make her a walking sista, she is packing her bags. In all seriousness, you can see how great she is doing. Thanks for all your support.

Did y'all know that I left my home 2 months ago?? True story.
Sooo Transfer calls were this week! GREAT NEWS! I'll be staying with Sis. Wadman in Moses Lake 2nd and YSA.  I'm her first 2 transfer companion since she was trained so we're both pretty stoked about it! But, our area is getting split because there's a lot of area to cover.  So two sisters will be moving into our apartment with us.  Its quite a small apartment so things could get pretty interesting...
Two of the Elders are leaving the zone and we are SO SAD! As you all know, I get too attached to people too quickly and they have become fam.  E. Turley and E. Spitzer are leaving.  But it's okay because the Lord just needs them elsewhere.  :)
Sooo this week we started teaching a newly wed couple! We had a BOMB Restoration lesson and at the end, the husband asked us if he could buy a Book of Mormon at Walmart.  We replied that they don't sell them at Walmart, but we had like 5 in our bags so we hooked him up with the Word of God.  He said hes excited to read it and we have a lesson with them tomorrow!
Also.... a man showed up yesterday at church.  His name is Don.  he came in a kilt :)  I don't know a whole lot of background on him other than his house and yard is decorated in Anti-Mormon signs.  He stalked some of the members of the church and had a restraining order on him.  Hes a self proclaimed Nudist... so thats... something.  BUT! I guess he decided to watch conference.  He watched all of it and absolutely loved it! He started reading the Book of Mormon and believes that its true.  he took down all of his signs, and decided to come to church to thank God for all of the things that he has.  The ward members were all very surprised to see him so I take it that he's making a HUGE change in his life.  But thats what the gospel does, it changes people :)
Tonight we have a lesson with a family.  last time we saw them, I promised them that if they read the book of mormon as a family each day, they would feel a stronger bond as a family.  It's been a couple of weeks since then, but they ran in to E. Ence and told him they've been reading the Book of Mormon almost everyday! And Joey, the father of the family, told his cable guy that they didn't need tv. because they needed to read the Book of Mormon more.  THEY ARE SO LEGIT.  They even canceled their lesson with us last week because they were going to their daughters Young Womens event.  I guess if they're gonna cancel, at least it was to go to a church event lol.  I can't wait to teach them tonight.  I'll keep y'all updated on em :)
We've gone to the foodbank twice this week, thats always a good time! We scooped frozen carrots into bags one day, and sorted corn the other day.  Its always fun to sort corn with the missionary fam :)
Oh yeah, this morning we had zone breakfast because of transfers on Wednesday.  It was so fun to get the gang together.  The zone leaders made us some chocolate chip pancakes and some eggs.  Wanna know something funny? I'm literally like a mom sometimes.  One of the elders ripped his pants, and I stitched the hole for him.  They also called us because they needed medicine.  And then another time, they called us to ask how to make rice.  And then another time they called to know how to keep their cast dry when they shower.  Freaking Elders.
Sometimes I forget I'm a missionary, and I look down at my tag and remember and then its like, holy crap I'm a missionary.  Its da best.  Lovin life.  I hope everyone back home is doing soooo good! I love you all :)

Week 8 - WE HEARD THE WORDS OF THE LORD

We weren't able to chat a lot with Camri as she emailed earlier in the day and caught us off guard.
She seems to be really happy. she is doing great. It's weird to think that she is already worried about receiving a call for her first transfer. She is praying that she gets to stay in Moses Lake with Sister Wadman. i think Sister Wadman is praying for the same thing so she can keep sharing clothes with Camri. Anyway, thanks for your support

Hey Fam!
First of all, GENERAL CONFERENCE WAS LIT! (Lit with the spirit of course)
The Apostles TOTALLY THREW DOWN! Completely crushed it.  Its crazy how so many of my prayers and questions were answered directly in many of the talks.  But I also came away from conference with a bunch more questions to study.  It was amazing.
Sooo conference was obviously the highlight of this week but I'll give ya some other stories too...
Right now we're teaching a woman named Lorena.  Lorena didn't believe in a God and then in a lesson she broke down crying and said "I know now that there is a God".  i wasn't there for that lesson but I was there for the last one.  We saw her on Friday I think it was.  And she cried to us about her life.  She said she lives such a happy life but on the inside she feels a chunk missing, she just doesn't know what it is.  I was like, I KNOW WHAT IT IS! Lol but I didn't say that.  It was just crazy to me that we appeared in her life at this time when she feels like shes missing something.  The Lord truly does prepare people.

Exchanges with the STL's (Sister Training Leaders) were on Thursday.  I went to Royal City with Hermana Lindsay.  The first half of the day we did service for this hispanic lady.  We helped her clean her house cause she's moving.  But it was hard because no one spoke english... haha good times.   Just imagine me sitting in a room with 8 people and they all speak spanish as I sit there and smile while nodding my head, acting like I know whats going on.  It was super hard and frustrating.  But it motivated me to learn spanish so Elder Turley gave me a spanish book to study from hahah.  Who knows, maybe I'll be an Hermana soon ;)
We're also teaching this woman named Taylor.  But everytime we go over, her kids are crawling all over us and its hard to teach a lesson.  Her daughter, Kinsley, is 2 years old and is freaking adorable.  She likes to wear my nametag when I go over and her mom says she has never seen her open up to someone so much :') We're homies for sure.  Taylor wants to be baptized.  But she needs to know if its true first, which means she needs to pray.  But she hasn't prayed about it yet... so we're helping her along the path.  Shes great though.
OH! And Shayna.  We just met a young mom named Shayna.  She doesn't know much about God and hardly anything about Jesus Christ.  Can you imagine going through life not knowing your savior? I can't even imagine.  BUT! How awesome is it that I get to be God's tool and tell her about her Savior Jesus Christ for the first time? Such a huge privilege.  Sharing the love we feel from Heavenly Father is one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Being a missionary is great.  God is great.  CONFERENCE MADE MY LIFE.  THE CHURCH IS TRUE.  Keep on keepin on.  I love all of you oh so much :)
-Sister Jensen <3

Oh yeah and I get transfer calls on Saturday... pray for me.. I'd love to stay with Sister Wadman in moses but we'll see what happens :)

4. On Saturday after each conference session we went out to eat lunch and dinner... Dairy Queen and Pizza Hut.  Don't worry we didn't look at the TV's.... lol
