Week 29 - our phones are about to get smart

Just in case you thought Camri was losing her sense of humor...think again. It looks like we have a new Pot Lucker on our hands. If you remember right, Camri is now the driver. I'm sure the chicken crossed the road to get off the sidewalk, which is where Camri was probably driving. We received as email from her mission president yesterday explaining that the mission will now be getting smart phones. they will be handing them out in April. Getting emails like this one makes us so excited to see what the next week is going to bring. See ya next week...from Ephrata. don't forget to check out Camri's blog at sisterjenseninyakima.blogspot.com

The Mission is getting smart phones! I guess it is pretty exciting news.  However, I really like using paper planners because its almost like a journal I can look back on.  Maybe I'll keep making paper planners anyways haha.Monday we had a lesson with Erika! It went well.  she is SO close to being ready for baptism.  I'm excited for her :)
Tuesday night we had a relief society party and it was called, "Fast Friending".  Pretty much like speed dating.  I don't know if I have talked about Pam before.  Pam is a non-member.  She is the KINDEST person ever! Her husband passed away not too long ago and its been really hard for her.  She has always had missionaries over and she feeds us, gives us rides, pretty much just becomes our mom away from home.  Anyways, we invited her to the party and she came! She had a blast too.  Shes really social. She also had surgery on Thursday so we asked if she would like a blessing Wednesday night.  Bishop came over and gave her one.  They're both really funny people so it was a good time haha.
One of our less-active members came down with the measles :( So we asked if she needed anything, and she said a gallon of milk would help.  Turns out, we had a whole extra gallon! Kinda crazy how it turned out.  We were also walking that day.  So we carried a gallon of milk all the way to her house.  :)
We had a ward pot-luck on Saturday night! I freaking love pot-lucks.  There should be more pot-lucks.  Its just a good time :)
Sunday night we went and met one of the less-active ladies in our ward.  Her name is Sister Necochea.  Super nice lady! Shes 74 and has been a member her whole life.  However, she decided when she was about 25 that she didn't have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and hasn't really gained one since.  She prays to know if its true, but she doesn't read it.  Which is a HUGE part of receiving and answer to know if its true.  Answers come, but it takes an act of faith on our part, ya feel?
Have yall heard the song "Peace in Christ"? I'm pretty sure its the mutual theme or something.  Anyways.  IT IS BOMB! The young women came and sang it yesterday in Relief Society and it made me cry a little... mostly because I miss my cute little sister :')
The other day as we were driving, a chicken ran out in front of us and crossed the road.  Made my whole day! hahahah but I'll never know why the chicken crossed the road.
Be good :)Love, Sister Jensen

Week 28 - Keep Small Puppies Inside

Sorry so late. We were out of town and I forgot to send it.
________________________________________________________
Is it cold in Utah? Cause it sure is freezing here in Ephrata.  On Saturday there were winds at 45 mph I think is what someone said.  I don't know if that sounds fast or not, but it sure felt like it! I think some small puppies probably got carried away and went missing over the weekend LOL.So like I said last week, I was in a tri-pan with the other sisters for a couple of days until my new comp came on Wednesday.  It was so fun being with them! Doorsteps were a little awkward because with three of us standing there it looked like we were about to carol to them or something.  But oh well, doorsteps are usually awkward either way. We went and saw one of their investigators on Monday night named Bonnie.  Bonnie is pretty old.. I'm not sure how old though.  We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she seemed to really like it!  Haha she kept stopping us when we got to the spirit world because sometimes thats a really hard concept for people to understand.  She was fun though :)Transfers were on Wednesday! The missionaries sung Happy Birthday to me at transfer sights! It was really nice but I felt kinda funny with them all staring at me while they were singing.  I wanted my comp to come stand with me but they said I had to go alone hahaha.  My new companion is Sister Shuldberg! She is from Chicago, but her family moved to Oregon about 2 months before she came on her mission.  She is a very good missionary! She works really hard, so I feel like this will be a good transfer.Oh funny story! So since I'm senior companion that means I'm the driver.  But in order to drive we have to have whats called a "tiwi" card.  And I couldn't find mine! I used it twice in Moses Lake when i had to drive.  But its always been in my wallet.  Just my luck that I lose it right when I need it, right? Well I had to have my zone leaders call the zone leaders in Moses Lake and ask them to look for it and they found it! They said they would send it to me with a missionary at transfer sights.  But then they forgot! So then they had to meet up with my zone leaders to give it to them.  Hahaha it was a big mess.  BUT! It was quite the miracle that it was found and that the Elders were so kind as to return it to me.  :')We had another lesson with Nikolay this week! We taught the Plan of Salvation.  Only got about half-way through though because Nikolay tells a lot of stories.. haha hes a good guy.  I'm still not sure what hes saying most of the time buuut God does so that's what is most important, right? Right.  He loved the idea of the Pre-mortal existence! He kept saying things like "continue!" or "Tell me more!" haha If only every person we met was that excited to learn!Hmmm I can't think of anything else at the moment to tell all of you.  I'll try to take better notes this week ;)Oh yeah and I hope everybody had a good Valentines Day that was full of love.  I love love.  Love you guys! Have a good week :)
-Sister Jensen

Sorry I didn't take very many pics this week!1. The days of the tri-pan companionship.  (This day was also my birthday)2. At the foodbank with the zone! (Sister Shuldberg has her nephews "flat stanley")3. Sometimes I don't like to open the screen door to knock lol.

Week 27 - Happy Valentines Day

Cam is going to have a new companion this week. She is a little excited because she is now the senior companions which means she gets to be the driver. she is pretty excited about that. I like how she made sure we all knew it was her birthday. hahaha. Anyway, she seems to be doing great. I can't believe she is turning 20. We are so grateful for Camri and her example to all of us.

Well I'm staying in Ephrata for another transfer! My birthday is on Wednesday, which is transfer day so I guess I'm getting a new companion as my birthday present! Her name is Sister Shouldberg.  I don't know too much about her.  Shes been out for a little less than me, about 4 months I think.  I heard she color coordinates her closet, so hopefully that means she likes to clean! That would make me happy lol.
Sister Lowham is leaving today to go to the mission home and then shes headed home tomorrow! She has been such a good companion.  I've learned a lot from her :)
So this week I think the craziest thing that happened was meeting Nikolay! We met him tracting on Tuesday and I think it was one of the most interesting tracting experiences I've had so far.  We knocked on his door, and when he answered he looked like he had just woke up.  We talked to him for a little bit and then he stopped talking, ran around his couch, and collapsed on the floor! Sister Lowham and I didnt really know what to do... so we just said hey Nikolay are you okay? And he jumped up really quick and told us he was just looking for his cat under his couch.  So he comes back to the door to keep talking to us, (Side note: Hes a 37 year old Ukranian man that is also Jewish.)  and he shakes our hand to tell us good-bye and then he turns around and kinda stumbles and collapses AGAIN! At this point we thought either something was wrong or he was drunk.  So we asked if he needed us to call someone for him and then he stood up again and said he was looking for his cats, AGAIN! It was so weird.... so then he came outside and talked to us about Jesus and we read some verses from the Book of Mormon.  He absolutely loved it! He didn't collapse again and we probably talked to him for about 20 minutes.  We ended up having a lesson with him on Friday and teaching him the Restoration.  We had a member from our ward with us.  And then we gave him a church tour on Saturday, and he came to church yesterday! He's a very... interesting man.  And we never did find out why he kept collapsing.  We know he wasn't drunk though because he told us he hasn't drank for 5 years now.  Maybe he really was looking for his cats? But I  don't think thats the case haha.  He loved church! And I guess he chose to stay in High Priests group because "the old guys remind him of his grandpa" hahahaha! Oh the people of Ephrata :')  He talks a lot about King David too.  I think thats part of the Jewish religion? I don't know.  But he seems to know the bible really well.  I don't really follow many of his stories... but his accent is cool to listen to :)
We had a really good lesson with Jutta, the german lady.  We read the Gospel of Jesus Christ out of the Book of Mormon and she loved it! She said she has really been thinking about getting baptized and she said she was going to come to church.  But then that same day, she texted us and said her husband didn't want her to come :( He's an athiest I guess and isn't very supportive of her coming to church.  So that was sad.  Hopefully he'll come around. oh and Jutta's cat had kittens and they were SO CUTE! Oh my goodness it made me wanna cry.  I love tiny animals :')
But have I mentioned how much I hate dogs these days? They never quit barking at us.  Drives me nuts.  Ugh.  People always know we're coming when they hear their dogs barking lol.
Well, I think those are things that stick out in my mind from this week.  I'll be in a trio companionship for the next couple of days with Sister Castle and Sister Crookston until my comp comes on Wednesday.  So that'll be fun! I love those sisters :)
Happy Valentines Day! Love is important.  So make sure to love people okay? okay.

Love, Sister Jensen

Week 26 - Moses Lake Road Trip :')

I didn't dare break the news to her that winter isn't gone…in fact, I'm not sure it is here yet. Anyway, Cam seems to be doing great. If you haven't looked at her missions blog, you should, there are a lot of great pictures of her during their zone conference. Camri started chatting with me about the times I use to take her to my school activities. She recalled a time when I bought her a ring. We have really been missing Camri this week. I know she is where she is suppose to be. I can't believe she has already been out for six months. I hope the next 12 months go as fast as the first 6. Thanks for your prayers in her behalf.

Did y'all watch the super bowl?! It was so sick!!! Justin Timberlake totally tore it up!!
JK JK! I didn't watch the superbowl of course ;)
Because of the game, no one signed up to feed us dinner last night so we ended up asking bishop if we could come over.  His family is so good to us! He said they didn't really care about the game so hopefully they weren't lying....
Anyways! I'll start with the bad news.  Soooo Sergio, the man that was on-date to be baptized, decided to drop us.  He told us he doesn't think he loves God enough to give up some of his worldly habits.  He told us he believes the Book of Mormon is true, but  he just doesnt want to put in the effort to do anything about it.  It was basically the saddest thing I have ever heard.  Those moments are what makes missionary work so hard.  Because he has his agency, and theres nothing we could do about it.  But I know he has felt the spirit before.  And hes seen the difference the gospel can make in his life.  So maybe one day, he'll decide to come back to it.
Oh yeah! Zone Conference was so so so good!!! it was so weird driving back into Moses Lake.  My heart overflowed and I felt so at home! I didn't realize how much I missed that place.  And I loved seeing all of my pals again! My Ephrata zone called me a traitor because I went and ate my lunch by Moses Lake missionaries hahah.  Oh well.
I got to go to Moses Lake again on Saturday for a baptism! One of the people I taught before the area split got baptized.  Remember Lorena? She is the one that didn't know there was a God but one day discovered that there is a God and now she has a super strong testimony! Shes freaking awesome! A ton of the ward members came to it too and so it was nice seeing all of them.  And sister Wadman! Its always good seeing her. :)
One of our investigars, Mike, is on-date for March 24th! We taught him the restoration on Friday and it went really good! We asked him to say the closing prayer and he was a little nervous.  he wasn't sure what to pray about so he said, "i'll just pray for the puppies".  Because he has a bunch of puppies right now hahah.  It was rad.  He just wants them to find loving homes.  I wish with all my heart I could take one... :(
The main theme at zone conference was the Book of Mormon.  There is so much power in the Book of Mormon! Especially on my mission, the Book of Mormon has become so important to me.  Its more than just words on a page.  If you haven't read the book of mormon, READ IT.  And if you have read it, READ IT.  We have it for a reason.  Every single time I have a question about the gospel that I can't seem to find an answer to, or any time someone bashes with us and I just don't know how to feel, I go back to my testimony of the Book of Mormon.  I don't know a lot of things.  But as long as I know the Book of Mormon is true, its okay that I don't know a lot of things.  So if you're questioning whether the church really is true, find out if the Book of Mormon is true.  And everything else will fall into place.  I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON.  Oh yeah and fun fact, it mentions Christ every 1.7 verses on average.
This morning we went to a members house- Sister Sortomme- and she helped me decorate a cake for my birthday next week.  We are celebrating early since Sister Lowham will be leaving me in a week :(  I'll attach a pic of the cake.
Thats about it for this week! Yesterday it was 60 degrees which was insane! It was super nice.  Winter might actually be gone.  Yay!
Also, I hit SIX MONTHS this week! Yikes.  LOVE YOU ALL!
